Just curious if anyone on this forum will be at the Palms for surgery in May...hoping to find someone else who will be there the same time to share our experiences.

I will be having surgery on May 26th, preoperative checkin on May 25th. When are you going to be there? I'm getting really nervous, and hesitant, but I want to have a long and healthy life with my family.

tammyw. Being nervous is understandable. This is no small time surgery. For what it's worth, I had my BCIR on Feb 2 and now 12 weeks post-op, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was the right thing to do. I've got my life back, and best of all I'm in control! In fact I was in control as soon as I started intubating on my own. No more searching out every rest room, cancelling outings, making excuses for absences, etc. I had UC until 1995 when I had J-Pouch surgery. It lasted 10 years, and the last 5 years have been pure misery (especially the last 12 months). You're going to get "gold-standard" care at Palms; they'll be certain you're prepared for all the "what ifs" before you're discharged; and once you're back home, they'll provide constant monitoring and advice to get you through any bumps in the road. I've got a mild case of pouchitis which Susan Kay is always advising me about. Glad to answer any questions you might have. Call if you wish - 215-880-2065. Best wishes.
