BC/BS denies Ampatch
Oct 7th, 2009 at 11:39pm

I have been using Edgepark and they notifed me today that Blue Cross no longer pays for any Ampatch Products anymore.  I hate to hear that, as I have enjoyed using their products.  Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this with their insurance recently.

Donnie;

I just talked to the owner of ampatch and they don't know of any problems with BC/BS. You may want to get more info from edgepark on this and post it here for all to take a look at. Maybe there is some querk in the system that is the problem.

If the wrong code is used, the entire claim can be rejected.  Don't give up your battle, thats what people want us to do.

Ray,  I finally got a response from Edgepark today.  Turns out they have been denying claims for Ampatch all year, and are just now letting me know.  I checked the diagnosis codes, they are correct, and also the billing code which is also correct according to Austin.  I am surprised that I am the only one having the problem.  It must be my particular contract.  Thought, I would share this.

Donnie;

I would appeal their decision through the insurance pocedure. There is usually 3 levels of appeals. This takes time and documetation.

Donnie;

Have you gone through the appeals process yet? Talk to Julie at AmPatch. You have 180 days form statement of denial to appeal. If edge park failed to inform you that is another matter to take up with them.

I finally got this issue resolved, and BC/BS AL has settled the issue and paid the claim.  I will never know what the problem was, I guess.  However, since then I just decided to use what they used at Palms.  Cover Roll and a 4 X 4 bandage doubled.  No problems with them covering those supplies. I guess everyone is a little different.

I had the same problem.  I had to make numerous phone calls and get lists of other supply companies.  After much hassle I found a company called Sterling Medical Services and they carry the Ampatch and insurance covers it with this company for me.  Customer service # is 888-239-2990.   By the way they are a great company!  Hope this helps some of you.
